UPDATE 11: Raffle Winner and pre-order store
about 4 years ago
– Fri, Feb 11, 2022 at 06:00:27 AM
Hey Daymakers!
Just a quick update today. In all the excitement earlier in the week, I forgot to let everyone know the winner of the raffle for the SUPERMAN OMNIBUS. Well...drum roll please... happy to announce that the winner is the single-named backer known only as JAMIE!
Congrats, Jamie! Drop a line at [email protected] and arrangements will be made to ship this beast to you.
ALSO!
The pre-order store through backerkit should be open (I think? It's a work in progress but I'm told the link should work) if there's something from the campaign that you want to add on to your pledge.
And that's all the news that's fit to print today! Back soon as things move forward!

UDPDATE #10: Daybreak lives!
– Tue, Feb 08, 2022 at 06:44:11 PM
Daymakers!
Thank you all very much for helping New Pain, Stefan Tosheff and I bring Daybreak#1 to life! And to all of you that climbed aboard the Daybreak train over the last 24 hours, welcome to the team!
Your support of this project really means the world and thanks to all of you, we're already hard at work on the second issue. Hopefully, we'll be able to speed up the production as we go, and hope to have the second issue ready for launch around mid-summer. New Pain wants to build a reputation as being reliable so the next chapter won't be listed until it's completely done.
But I'm getting ahead of things.
It takes Kickstarter 2-3 weeks to collect and transfer the funds, at which point the books will be printed and fulfilled. As mentioned on the campaign page, postage is going to be collected via Backerkit around the same time the book is ready to be fulfilled so I'd expect that to happen towards the end of February and everyone should have their books/rewards in March. T-shirts will be sent separately and will probably arrive before the actual books. The surveys will ask your sizes.
And then in early April, New Pain will launch their second project, MICROSCOPIC, by myself and Raffaele Forte, with Taylor Esposito and PeriyaPillai, and variant cover contributions by Greco-Roman oil wrestler Tom Nguyen and the master blaster, Doug Mahnke. Here's a sneak peek at the regular cover:
But I'm getting ahead of myself again.
I have to get back to work this afternoon on a Stranger Things script (and believe me, my head really isn't there) but allow me, one more time, to say thanks to all 277 of you on behalf of the New Pain Pro team. You guys are the best.
Your pal,
Keith Champagne
Update #9: THE FINAL COUNTDOWN
– Mon, Feb 07, 2022 at 07:32:36 PM
Good morning, Daymakers.
The final countdown has begun! We've got just over 24 hours remaining in the campaign for Daybreak! #1; the crowdfunding phase of the project ends at noon tomorrow.
We're still a tiny bit shy of the 6k stretch goal for the Ale Garza print but with a little more luck and effort, there's a good chance we'll get there. Also, all physical backers will be receiving the bookmark as our 200 backer goal. I heard a rumor that Tom Nguyen will naked oil wrestle every single backer if we reach 300 hundred backers (mandatory, Tom insists, you can't back out) but that hasn't been confirmed yet.
Remember, the print will be "naked" with no logo or cover dress.
Also, quick reminder for our new supporters that if your pledge is $20 or more, you're automatically entered into a raffle to win this Superman Omnibus which has been sitting on my desk the last month, filled with the work of many great people (including me). This also includes DIGITAL BACKERS, I'll cover the shipping.
The spoils of the raffle
Let's hit the last 24 hours hard, Daymakers! If you can make some noise, great! And if we get an avalanche of last-minute support, expect another update with a last-minute stretch goal we can all strive to hit.
Thanks for all your help,
Keith Champagne
UPDATE 8: Return of Ale Garza!
– Thu, Feb 03, 2022 at 01:32:59 PM
Daymakers! Happy Wednesday to you.
Anyone check out this week's episode of Boba Fett because wow, it was great (although it's weird how the two best episodes don't have much Boba Fett in them)!
Anyway, just a quick update to let you all know that the backer that grabbed Ale Garza's original cover art released it back into the wild this morning. Oh, wait. Before I go any further, let me refresh your memory. I forget not everyone is as intimately familiar with this project as I am...
Ale Garza's variant cover art
The original backer had snatched it up very quickly at the beginning of the campaign so if any of you had your eye on it but couldn't pull the trigger in time, just wanted to let you know it's available again; and don't tell the original backer but I asked New Pain to knock $100 off the price of the reward this time around.
It's available again now and no telling how long it'll last this time so if you've got a friend that would dig it or want to upgrade your pledge, well, now you know.
And knowing is half the battle, as my old pal Joe used to say.
Your new pal,
Keith Champagne
Update #7: Final new reward added!
– Tue, Feb 01, 2022 at 05:28:26 AM
Daymakers! How's your Monday going?
Things have been humming along behind the scenes of Daybreak! #1 (that exclamation point is so grammatically awkward but there's a reason it's there, honest). We've been making solid progress towards the 6k stretch goal and I fully expect to get there by the end of the campaign. If you guys want to tell a friend about this project, I definitely won't hold it against you. Every little bit helps, right?
I'll be adding the final new reward to this campaign by the time you read this update. As I finalized the script to Daybreak! #2, I realized there was an opening for a second likeness reward, this one for a backer to appear in the book and interact with the diabolical dickhead, Doc Matter. This is a one page appearance, a speaking role that will be named after and will look like the backer. The reward is called "CAMEO WITH GREATNESS" and if you're interested, feel free to check it out!
These likeness rewards are always fun and also make nice little gifts for that special someone. If that special someone is a super comic nerd, anyway. Like, I wouldn't give it to my mom. She wouldn't get it AT ALL.
I also wanted to bring a couple of projects to your attention today. I don't normally like to spotlight more than one other project per update but this first one is really cool, super close to being funded, and the campaign ends in a couple of days so maybe we can help out.
Full disclosure: this project is created and written by a fellow named Jack Holder. I know Jack from the East Coast convention scene; he's one of the nicer human beings alive, always positive and full of affirmations and he's also a new dad! So I'm happy to help promote his project a tiny bit. If you get a second and swords/sorcery/fantasy is your bag, feel free to check out:
What's going on in the book? Well, The king has tasked his new mage with a quest. To venture through the realm of Dannisfire, and present him with a new miracle. For Camriddeon, it is a test of his abilities, and a chance to view the wonders of the land. And really, who doesn't love a good quest?
Camriddeon's adventure starts in the floating city of Providentia. A new city that defies logic, reason, and perhaps even reality. Is this a new paradise, the model for the kingdom? Or is not everything as it seems?
So, guys, I haven't read the book but if you ask me, I'd place a bet on not everything being what it seems in the floating city of Providentia. Let's back the book and find out if I'm right!
And secondly, another book that caught my eye as I was scrolling Kickstarter, written and drawn by a cat named Jake Morrison, whose name sounds like an action hero in an 80's Schwarzenneger flick: Mimesis#1: The End Of The World, Of Course!
Mimesis is a coming-of-age story, built around characters in their late teens and early twenties. According to Jake, it's perfect for the young adult out there, those kids still trying to find their way. Or for the fan of blended science fiction/ fantasy genres. If you enjoy carefully executed stories, as well as strange and vibrant worlds, this may well be the series of your dreams.
In Issue #1 of Mimesis, 'The End of the World, of Course', we are introduced to Matt, an anxiety-riddled teen trying to survive in a chaotic and outright confusing world. We are led to believe that they are being subjected to 'trials' by the 'gods', but something about it just doesn't feel right. Then, something happens that changes the course of their lives and reality forever...
And if you want to know what that is, you're gonna need to back the project!
Both of these projects have the New Pain seal of approval. If you're looking for more cool stuff to back, feel free to check them both out!
That's all for today, guys. Back more with more hard-hitting Daybreak! action.
