Daybreak! #2 coming July 12th!

Good morning, Daymakers!

I've mentioned it before but thank you again for the overwhelmingly positive reaction to Daybreak! #1. It's great to get feedback, especially positive feedback, after months of creating something in a bubble, hoping for the best, fearing the worst.

Stefan Tosheff and I (as well as the New Pain staff) are excited to let you all know that the second issue of Daybreak! is ready to fly! The book is wrapping up production and the campaign is approved by Kickstarter and scheduled to go live on July 12th, with a soft launch at 9:00 PM EST the night before. 

The reason we do these soft launches is to give previous backers a chance to snag the early bird tiers before the rest of the world.  If you'd like to sign up to be notified the second the campaign goes live, you can find the landing page at bit.ly/daybreakreturns or just click  HEREHEREHERE! 

There will be some different reward tiers this time around, including a new t-shirt design, an exclusive custom Daybreak Funko Pop, and even (by backer request), a separate "adults only" edition with a nude cover by Tom Nguyen and containing alternate adult content.  

There are also variant covers by Kevin West and Neil Edwards and more surprises in store! If we have time, we may even produce new cover art for the new edition of the first issue that's included in the campaign, for new backers that may have missed it.

Here's a page of preview art that nobody aside from Stefan and I have seen yet. The keen-eyed observer may recognize the villain SNOW from the previous Champagne/Nguyen graphic novel, THE SWITCH.

PREVIEW NIGHT (plus a note on t-shirts)

Daymakers!

Hope everyone is doing fantastic out there on this sunny (back east, at least) Monday morning!

Over the weekend, some elbow grease was put into closing out the campaign for Daybreak! #1 and it was noticed that four international backers (Emily, Ricky, John and James) have yet to receive their t-shirts. All four packages are still showing marked as "pre-transit" at the USPS Global Mail center in New Jersey.  It's frustrating, it's out of New Pain's hands but we still want to apologize for the delay; the shirts are in the system. I'd have to imagine they start moving towards their destinations soon. We'll keep an eye on them on this end and if you want your individual tracking info, just email [email protected].

Shifting gears, the campaign for MICROSCOPIC #1 kicks off tomorrow morning! Many of you have already signed up to be notified when this new project goes live (THANK YOU!). But... there's a disclaimer here: the campaign goes live for the REST of the world tomorrow morning. For you guys, as a way of saying thanks for supporting Daybreak!,  New Pain would like to invite to PREVIEW NIGHT.

Tonight at 9:00 PM EST, Microscopic #1 will be open to all of you that have signed up early!

This is our way of saying thanks and offering our beloved Daymakers the best chance at snagging the Early Bird tiers, which are limited and time-sensitive. Update #??- MIGHTY DOUG MAHNKE JOINS NEW PAIN (plus art rewards)

Daymakers!

Another quick note to let those still waiting know that the final art rewards are being mailed out today. I've been a little off this week, not feeling great although multiple tests declare I don't have the Covid, but luckily still managed to power through and finish these up. The only one I'm not mailing is Tom Nguyen's; not until he rematches me in oil wrestling in New Orleans later this month, where we'll be appearing together at Mighty Con.

(ALERT: Throwback joke to an earlier update. But is it a joke, really??)

We also wanted to share the sexy sign up link to the landing page for Microscopic #1, which has been approved by Kickstarter and is ready to go. If you want to be notified when the campaign launches, there are some great, limited-time early bird rewards that will be available. It will also be fulfilled as efficiently as Daybreak! #1 has been. Building trust with backers is very important to New Pain.

Alsoalso, because pretty things are nice to look at, here's the unveiling of the incredible Doug Mahnke's black and white variant cover art for Microscopic #1! Doug is a great friend, artist and collaborator and we're very grateful he managed to find time to cover our next project.

Doug's original art, inked by me, will be available as a campaign reward. The great Steve Buccellato is coloring and we can't wait to show the finished piece off.

UPDATE 17: Campaign fulfilled... ALMOST!

Daymakers!

New Pain asked me to drop you all a quick note and advise everyone that the campaign for Daybreak #1 is FULFILLED...almost.  If you've filled our your survey and supplied shipping charges, your package has been mailed out. Yesterday, I personally sent out the last 15 packages for stragglers that were late with their surveys so you can be assured all books are on their way. Books going to other countries, obviously, will take a little longer to be delivered.

At this point, I have two original art commissions (Vampi and Lady Deathstrike) that I still need to ink and ship out separately to those backers. Those should go out the door by Friday and arrive next week and that will more or less be a wrap. Anyone that fills out their survey after that point, I'll just pop their books in the mail as we go.

But wait! There's more!!

I also wanted to share with you the video created by New Pain's art director, Robb Miller, for MICROSCOPIC #1. The campaign for this project is scheduled to launch on April 12th but I loved Robb's video so much, I can't hold it back that long. Hope you dig it too!

UPDATE 16: Fulfillment begins

It's happening, Daymakers!

Books are printed, packaged and are being shipped out as I type these words! Need some proof? OK, here you go:

I'm very excited for everybody to get their print copies and other rewards. Many of you have already received your t-shirts, thanks for tagging me in the pics on social media! If you're an overseas backer, your shirts are still in transit. Stefan and I are finishing up the original art rewards over the next week and those will be mailed out as soon as they're finished.

BUT!

If you haven't filled out your survey yet, well, first of all WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU? You're missing out on the first issue of America's favorite new comic book! But more importantly, New Pain will be sending a list of any stragglers to the print/fulfillment house tomorrow for their last round of shipping. 

If you fill out your survey after this week, there will be a slight delay in getting your book. I'll be fulfilling any remaining orders directly from The Champagne Compound but I'm away next week on a long-planned family vacation. I'll get them in the mail when I get back. 

And then, if you'd be so kind, please keep an eye out for New Pain's next project: MICROSCOPIC, which will be launching around the middle of April.  It's a really cool project (if I say so myself) with some truly stunning artwork by Italian superstar Raffaele Forte, with lettering by Taylor Esposito and colors by PeriyaPillai.
